How did what you studied help you get a career in games?

The way the course was set up meant that we had to choose what discipline we wanted to take very early on. This meant choosing between the various subjects such as CG animator, CG Artist etc. By doing this we were able to focus on one single aspect of the course and improve in that area up to the point where we were employable. Again this differs from the ‘jack of all trade' courses.

What titles/projects have you worked on since graduation, and where at?

I am working at Crytek UK on my first project.

What is your current role, and where? - can you briefly describe your daily duties and responsibilities?

I'm currently working as an Intern Animator. I'm producing work dealing with weapons and death animations and have set targets daily and weekly.

What was the toughest, most challenging thing you've encountered at work?

Adjusting to the workflow difference between university and a company.

What advice would you give to the current crop of students?

From my own experience of leaving things to the last minute and nearly collapsing due to copious amounts of all-nighters, I would advise that you break the back of any of the projects early on. This will only lead to a better final project as you can get more specific feedback on shots and refine your work more. Also especially in the last few personal projects that I have done I have come to learn that good planning is crucial, it saves time and you will get better results.

What's the game you most wish you'd worked on, ever?

Gears of War.

Do you have any industry role models/heroes?

Bobby Beck, Andrew Stanton.

Which game character would you like to be?

The smug looking dog off Dunk Hunt!

What's the most fun you've had at work?

Probably attending Crytek's 10th year anniversary party in Frankfurt, Germany.

What are you most proud of?

Actually getting a job!!

Tell us an interesting story about your life in Games

Probably doing the robot in front of the Crytek founders, the Yerli brothers, in Frankfurt.
