MA in Creative Media Practice at the University of the West of Scotland Skillset Media Academy

Masterclass at the University of the West of Scotland Skillset Media Academy
Alexandra Petrie, Managing Director of Glasgow-based creative production agency VoxPopulus, is just one of a number of industry professionals who are currently benefiting from undertaking the innovative MA Creative Media Practice programme at the University of the West of Scotland Skillset Media Academy (UWS).
Alexandra is undertaking the programme on a part-time basis, “I saw first-hand the shift change in media consumption towards moving image whilst working in a digital marketing agency and decided to set up my company to offer a new brand of creative media. When I found out about the UWS Creative Media Practice course via Twitter, I was sold on the emphasis it placed on practical learning, offering modules based on teaching the practical skills actually required in industry."
Undertaking the Masters course on a part-time basis is perfect, allowing me to develop my business whilst also keeping up-to-date with the most recent trends and research in industry.
Alexandra found the course both inspiring and challenging, "We have had some great workshops with industry experts, including production designers, scriptwriters and media moguls. The lecturers are great, with a wide knowledge base between them. They all have great industry links and the practical nature of the course means you have the opportunity to network and make contact with a wide range of potential future collaborators."
When talking about the staff the UWS Alexandra has nothing but positives to say. "The team of lecturers at UWS are hugely supportive and in them I have found a set of very knowledgeable consultants whom I am able to bounce ideas off and get great advice from. Also, being part of a forward thinking University like UWS opens many doors for you."
I would highly recommend the course to anyone who is looking to develop a career in creative media.
"I am really looking forward to the next year of the course and the opportunities it will bring. Although I only have one year of the course remaining, I hope to be involved in the University for the rest of my career.”
