Developing Multiplatform Ideas at Cornwall Skillset Media Academy

Richard Williams, Head of Multiplatform Productions at BBC Vision and Lead Tutor on this course
What is multiplatform? What makes for a strong multiplatform project? How can you develop great cutting edge ideas, then frame and pitch them to get commissions?
These are some of the themes that were covered in the recent Developing Multiplatform Ideas Build your own MA short course, led by Richard Williams, Head of Multiplatform Productions at BBC Vision.
Participants had the opportunity to work together and independently to develop in-depth treatments for their own multiplatform projects.
Aimed at experienced producers and creatives, the course equipped participants to face current industry challenges during an intensive 2-day residential, followed by 7 weeks of part-time supported learning online. With only a handful of participants, the course responded to their specific needs and helped them hone a market-aware pitch. All 13 participants gained 20 credits towards a postgraduate qualification.
Here's what the participants said:
Very good at demystifying the multiplatform world! A great group of people with a range of expertise. Lots of opportunities to ask questions and get advice.
Overall, excellent - many short courses feel rushed or a waste of time – this has been informative, inspiring and useful in so many ways.
One thing I know I will leave with is enthusiasm and the urge to go out and work on my own project.
Really good industry overview. Covered all the areas I was expecting and more.
Multiplatform is such huge uncharted territory that no one really knows what will happen next. “Developing Multiplatform Ideas” gave me the map and compass I need as a contemporary producer.
