Health and Safety
Health and safety skills are a priority for the film and television industries.
The same health and safety skills are needed across a range of creative media sectors that are involved in film and television production.
That’s why Creative Skillset has worked with industry to create the Health and Safety Framework, an agreement across sectors about which qualifications or training courses are needed for priority production roles.
It means that training and qualifications you do with one employer will be recognised and valued by your next employer.
The framework is also important so that you, as an employee or freelancer, understand what skills and training you need in order to perform your role in production, and that you know what training and qualifications are available.
It helps your employer to appreciate the full range of roles that require health and safety skills and knowledge. Through the Production Safety Passport scheme, accessible through this website, they can also check your health and safety training history so that you don’t have to repeat training you’ve already done.
And it helps Creative Skillset identify which courses we should promote to you and fund so that the training is much less expensive for you.
Click here to see the courses validated within the Health and Safety Framework that are eligible for Creative Skillset bursaries. Some of the courses are also Production Safety Passport (PSP) approved - see more on this below and follow the link.
Or, use our Self Assessment Tool to see the industry-validated health and safety training courses relevant to your job role and level of responsibility.
There are three separate, complementary industry schemes in place for recording health and safety training and skills. They each reflect a different approach to maintaining health and safety standards in the film, broadcast and independent production industry. Click these links to find out more about them:
