Standards for Health and Safety
Standards clearly define the skills, knowledge and experience you need to do a job. You can pick and mix different Standards to fit your needs.
Creative Skillset works closely with industry professionals and experts to make sure our Standards are up-to-date, realistic descriptions of what you need to do a job.
You can use Standards to:
- Evaluate your performance
- Demonstrate your skills
- Plan your career progression
- Identify your training needs
For some roles, the Standards have been used to create qualifications that assess your ability to do your job to a particular level or grade. These roles include grips, crane operators, animal trainers, stagehands and lighting technicians. More qualifications like this are being developed.
There are some skills, like Health and Safety, which you need for every job. Creative Skillset’s Standards for risk assessment and risk management, known as X Units, are relevant to all grades across the industry. Modular qualifications in risk assessment and management are based on these X units. Click here to view the X Units.
When a person achieves a competence-based qualification relevant to the film or television industry, they can apply for a Creative Skillset Skills Passport. This is a plastic card which includes information about the qualification and can be used by the card holder to demonstrate that they are qualified to a professional standard in their grade.
